The LG 42LV4400-UA was incredibly easy to set up. The picture is above average, though with high definition 1080p, most would notice only small differences in picture quality between different TVs. There is a little blurring when watching sports, which is common in my experience. The screen has a matte surface, which reduces glare. By comparison, my Samsung with a "glossy" screen displays a better television image, but also reflects almost like a mirror. The sound quality is average, maybe a little below a Visio with speakers on the front, and a little above a Samsung. Anyone who seriously cares about great sound will probably be connecting this TV to an alternative audio source. It can be set to automatically detect the aspect ratio being broadcast, so fewer programs have the image stretched or squished. There is also a parental lock feature.
The 42LV4400-UA comes with an owners manual and CD, remote control with two AA batteries included, a cleaning cloth, power cable, stand with screws, and one safety screw. The included stand allows the TV to swivel up to 20 degrees. Depending on your room setup, this can be helpful to further limit glare during certain times of day.
On the left side (if looking at the TV display) are two HDMI ports and one USB port and the television controls. On the bottom of the TV is the cable/antenna input, one additional HDMI port, DVI and audio ports for connecting a computer, component video inputs for audio and video (which can also be used as composite inputs), and an optical digital output.
On the downside, there is no Ethernet connection. This means the TV does not now and will not ever be able to display content from a home network or the Internet. It also will not be able to be updated or improved with firmware updates. If you're connecting this TV to a set-top box like Roku, or a Blu-ray player, you'll probably have access to Internet content through those devices anyway.

First off, I have had this tv for 2 days. Right after I ordered it, I started reading about input lag and other things. I'll be honest, it got me worried. I'm a regular gamer, and it is really what I got the TV. So when it first arrived, I set it up and put in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 .. Without changing any settings. I noticed that there was some input lag, and it was a little annoying .. but it was playable in my opinion.
So I turned off the Tru Motion by changing the picture setting to "Game". I really did not notice much of a difference. It improved by 20% maybe? That was when I was starting to get worried .. I did a little research and found a sneaky trick / fix. So far it worked great. (Knock on wood, I really love my TV in full now!) Below are step by step instructions.
1. On your remote, press the input button.
2. Then push the blue button on the bottom right hand corner of the remote. It says 3D settings but that's irrelevant right now.
3. This will open a window to change the name of the input.
4. Choose the PC name.
When you change the name of the input to PC, it turns off almost all of the image processing that comes with the HDMI input. So far, It has worked GREAT!
Setup was relatively painless. I haven't setup the 3D Bluray player yet, I'll update when I do. My first 3D experience was with Halo CE Anniversary. I must say... INCREDIBLE! I wasn't ready for things to really come out of the screen. I guess my expectations were a little low. But hey! It turned out to be a good thing!
The 2D to 3D is pretty sweet. I have found that it doesn't work great with everything. Sports, sitcoms and movies are pretty cool when up-converted. But talk shows and news isn't anything special. Of course, the LED and Tru Motion make everything silky smooth. Makes everything look almost fake, I personally like this.
When I opened the packs of 3D glasses, I was surprised, they weren't black, but white and orange! I kinda thought this was cool, you could call it a pleasant surprise.

This HDTV has a superb real picture, whether it is displayed in 3D or 2D. The 3D image quality is excellent, we have to find and buy DVD's which we are not satisfied with the quality and clarity, there are only four 3D channels on DirectTV, so we have little 3D look, there is only one movie channel, repeat film just was a matter over and over, this is to experience 3D fast for our. The sport chennal, it also allows us to see the full 3D, do you think like? I back see the US Open Live tennis every day.
I strongly recommend this HDTV. A tip for 3D glasses is that they are expensive, about $ 118 from Panasonic and the comments come from real users. I choose the price produced by the Taiwanese and the rest is just $ 45 on Ebay and they work very well, no problem.
Amazing Picture Quality!!, September 24, 2011
I purchased this 42-inch model on a week ago. Now I get to watch it a little in this week, initially I was very satisfied with it. In fact, I expect a complete image from Panasonic Plasma's more because I have Plama Panasonic in my bedroom. Later I bought a new (ST series) to replace the old. I will tell it's real colorful, bright, vivid black are true black that I have never seen. This HDTV is one of the best values for me.
If you are looking for a HDTV at a great value, buy it! I will not talk about the experience for the difference between Plasma vs LCD's hair and overall it will make you feel anxious picture quality of a Plasma. Believe me, if you get up to Panasoic Plasma this generation, you can get good experience. If you agree with the simple black bezel around the screen, you can feel that great image displayed on the screen. I have not tried 3D and I have no need for it now. It is a nice bonus for me if I needed it later. I have never played VIERA Connect Apps, but as far as I was using it as an HDTV Plasma work very well.
Finally, it is a great HDTV. I recommend it to friends. I will have the possibility to purchase it for this Creistmas. Hope that its price will decline.

At first, I was afraid, I think I will look for a 1080p HDTV set for more. I wanted to 3D feature So I decided for 3D LG 50-Inch 720p Plasma. Until today to get it. I can safely say Wow! It is a great television that I expected. Actually, the 3D excellent, I am happy for order this HDTV in real at reasonable prices (amazon price is less than bestbuy). Bear in mind, that you have to buy Blu-ray player 3D with perfect 3D experience. I will bought it for another soon.

I got this LG 3D HDTV for about 3 months ago in a cost effective price. I am very satisfied. Now you can buy it at a cheaper price, I bought and still get 2 pair of 3D Glassess with this HDTV set, although it has a resolution of 720p, as far as I see it with my eyes. It also has a fresh and clear with a variety of custom setting allows you to customize a pre-set, but I think that Cinema Picture Mode is the most natural. When I make a tuner for HD channels and SD channels look great too.
The only difference I noticed from LG is that when scanning the channels, channels group between SD and HD channels, it is ordered seperatly. That is, it is set by the optical digital audio out only (no analog or plug the headphone). I used Monopiece Digital Coax & Optical Toslink to Analog Audio Converter and it did not work (it appears this device can only handle PCM encoded material). If you don't have HDMI cable receiver for LG LSB316 soundbar (the way I used to), it works well. The 3D effect, I have the movie Tron Legacy and Avatar (3D encoded using a PS3) that come out loud and clear and glowing, it expressed a great 3D effect.
Feedback as I have with this HDTV is that the 3D glassess which it does stay synched with HDTV, and you have to keep re-powering for the glasses (if you use multiple glasses). I do not use 2D to 3D conversion. from the TV. Finally, if you want great 3D HDTV at a reasonable price, I am extremely pleased to introduce this new HDTV.

3D value
I have done and the tests were all morning / afternoon. 2D image is incredibly strong. This set is connected to my PC. 3D content seems just as good if not better than the whole 3D active. Ghosts minimal. The only other 3-D TV that I compare this series is the Samsung 9000, which took a lot of ghosts.
It really comes down to how much and this TV is affordable. I wanted to 3D, but do not want to spend a lot of that. The overall quality of construction is good for this area. It is paper thin and elegant to look like the 9000 series, but again in mind that price maintenance.
I love that you can use the "Real 3D" glasses from the theater with these passive sets. Actually, they seemed to give me better vision than the 2 pairs that were included with the TV. As one other review mentioned on here, some 3D looks better than others. This really does have all to do with the source material. I have been going between a few of the latest 3D animated movies (which definitely look the best) and some IMAX movies from a few years ago. There is a noticeable difference in depth.
There are other functions and settings I need to go into details, but so far so good. Very satisfied with my purchase.
OK, I thought when I hit the 200 hours will give me more of my impressions P42ST30. I highly recommend the method of preparation Nice panel D, which can be found online using Google. Even if you "accidentally" watched a couple of hours of content regularly, start now and look no further. I know that the goal is to get the aging of the pixels for the accuracy of the settings, but I think in this way also leads to more vibrant colors, with less bleeding.

In fact, I had more time to go look at the screen during a particularly dark scene with a good contrast in bright light and localized flows could not see the light, or light bleeding in the dark, etc. ..
Proven "track butterscotch" HD JPEG someone has posted a video on YouTube with its GT30 is obvious flicker, and the only thing I saw was a very brief clouding of blacks in the image and stable state. Of all my emails on the TV is probably the quietest of the group.
As for the dead pixel / stuck I only have two. It goes on slides goes dark blue and dark red on slides. I can live with this, because the focus properly on all other colors. I was not able to watch any kind of native 3D content yet (waiting for my avatar BD), but 2D-3D is nice to see at first, but after a while '"is really important if there is a type graphics on the screen until you have a real depth perception. TV syncs easily with my Xpand active 3D glasses.
Oh yes, I have audio stuttering on Netflix, but only recently has started, so for now I take can be solved with a firmware update. In addition there is a big problem for me because we have the DMP-BDT210 Netflix and movies of your choice, but for some reason when I use it mainly for streaming movies. In conclusion, I know that the ST30 is the bottom line, the top model and I know that is far from perfect. But I really think this is the best value on the market for a 42" Full HD TV, 3D for less than $1000. I'm definitely a proud owner ST30.
I have had this TV for a week and spent some time playing with it and watch more television, more films, both 2D and 3D. I think I now have a good idea of how this TV performs.
Now I want to go into details a little more for my calibration process and how this TV performs. In fact, the accuracy and grayscale color TV very well in "Cinema". I used my colorimeter, download a free copy of the software and the AVS HD 709 calibration disk ColorHCFR calibration model to test the colors and shades of gray. I found the video mode has a good range, color temperature, brightness and accuracy. It's not perfect, but it is not too far away. The contrast must be a little higher, but for a way out-of-the-box, is very good. If someone does not bother with the calibration, just go to the Cinema mode and increase the contrast a little, and is ready to go.
For those who are interested in more advanced calibration, the TV has two advanced imaging modality called "Expert 1" and "Expert 2" with small "ISF" logos. These two modes are all you need to calibrate advanced ISF is certified by a professional or do it yourself (although I dig these "experts" However, I am not an "expert", not even close BTW). Go deep into one of two "expert" modes, you can adjust the RGB channels (both contrast and brightness), color filters are used to adjust the color saturation and hue. TV up to 20 control points of curves grayscale. Although this adjustment can be difficult to use and allows more accurate grayscale. There is also a control of primary and secondary colors for the CMS (Color Management System), which are rarely found in entry-level or mid-range TV.
I spent a couple of hours playing with these advanced controls and the results were surprising. Luminance, gamma, color temperature curves were all very close to the objectives deltaE with very low values. Of course they are not as low as I can get my monitor with the graphics card, but these figures and graphics are excellent for a TV. After calibration, the colors are natural and smooth skin tones look great. Watch movies in 3D. I noticed that some crosstalk / ghosts in some dark scenes, but it seems that this problem depends on the content. I have seen very little ghosting when watching 3D tangled, almost no problem with the last wave 3D Tahiti and a little more of Shrek 1 and 2 in 3D.
However, it was also where I found an annoying problem as I said. The picture modes seems to be working independently in different display modes, including TV and Blu-ray. I have a Blu-ray player connected via HDMI. All my calibration has been done in this vision with the use of my Blu-ray. After everything was set and I got my desired results, there is no way to apply the calibrated parameters for all inputs. I calibrated profile "Expert 1" (Blue-ray display mode) on TV does not have the same parameters, does not really change at all. I had to manually copy the number from my notes and transfer them one by one. I found it very annoying, but not a big problem and I could get around him. But it is very strange.
Another problem that I found rather strange is the expert of profiles, image are disabled in 3D display mode. So, all the calibrated results are meaningless if you watch movies in 3D. I understand that all energy-saving functions are disabled in 3D mode, but the calibrated profiles are gone too? Very strange. Fortunately, the profile image "Cinema" is still working and as I said, what a good job.
This TV doesn't have any internet streaming service but who really needs it because if you buy a 3D TV, it's almost certain that you have or will have a 3D Blu-ray player and all 3D Blu-ray players have internet streaming capability. Why we need to pay more for a similar feature in a TV as well?
In summary, Although this TV is certainly NOT among the best out there, not even close; It is an excellent TV, especially for the money. Having a lot of advanced picture controls is a huge plus. Excellent picture quality for the money. Despite some annoying but minor issues I found, I still give this TV 5 stars for its quality and value.

- Many advanced controls for tweaking picture quality, ISF calibration ready, as LG put it. This is a huge plus for an entry level TV
- Excellent picture quality and color accuracy, especially after being properly calibrated
- Low power consumption for a plasma TV, has built-in smart power-saving feature. After being calibrated, it's less than 100 watts in 2D mode which is very low for a plasma TV and within the territory of LCD TVs.
**Cons:
- Only 720p. This actually doesn't bother me because I hardly notice any difference in picture quality compared to my 1080p TV unless I get very close, something like 2-3 feet or so.
- A small annoying issue I found when I tried to calibrate the TV. No big deal but still annoying. I will explain later.
- Looks like a mirror. This is actually a problem for all plasma TVs, the technology itself. If your room is not dark enough, or the TV is facing a window, the reflection can be pretty bad. High end plasma TVs have some sort of filter or something like that to reduce reflection but they cost a lot more. If your room is pretty bright, get ready to buy a dark curtain.

First of all let me say that I was watching TV in 3D to work intensively with computers all day and have a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of each piece of equipment. This TV is really for your money. The refresh rate is 480 Hz or less as a test of your future together and you can be sure any updates or HDMI to 3D technology will be able to be provided by the firmware for all. I love the game and if you are a player like me who wants a fantastic past without blurring the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC ... I sent the ring to TV and it came out like Tyson in his prime.
3D will be available through the voodoo that this series is 1080p @ 24Hz similar to the current bluray players. All other formats are supported (like the ones you get from cable or streamed or downloaded on YouTube and Netflix soon .... what are usually called SBS or side by side, this set also takes into above and below of which is simply another form of SBS uses all of these formats in games or programs and cable set-top-notch ride here while the resolution of the HD range because the technology is active.)
To sum it up this set is at the top of the 3D market for a few reasons.
1) Active technology running on 1080p@24hz as of now is the only tech that give you a full 1080p HD picture with no loss where passive interleves the picture cutting the resolution in half and this is a no go for most gamers.
2) Active SBS technology takes that same 1080p signal and splits the images into two angles then recombines them to give you still an HD signal but closer to 720p than 1080p but has become the standard for most cable providers, netflix, youtube ect. due to the bandwith it saves. If your set is SBS passive then i feel bad for you cause you have 2 forms of loss happening now the first splitting that 1080p signal into two images then the interleaving for 3D effect..... giving you close to a 540i signal.
3) LED TV!!!! And not only led but full array led. This means your blacks are darker and your colors are more defined crisp and sharp. There are litterally red green and blue leds in your set that can now illuminate to help the color portfolio of each pixel on your screen. Top of the line in LCD technology.
3)PC 3d gaming can be done either by nvidia's solution or ATI HD3D and iz3d drivers. Nividia's setup is a bit simpler but performance is lacking and usually you have to scale the graphics down for the framerate to pick up. I've recently updated my video card to the ati HD 5670 and could not be happier. First off you will want to get the iz3d driver and make sure you chose the full install of the release canidate. Purchase the AMD 3DHD license which is half off. Make sure your LCD is connected via HDMI and in the catalist control panel select the 1080p@24hz resolution and scale it to 0 overscan. Enable the iz3d driver and you will be well on your way. Any other refresh rate will work great on the tv under normal circumstances but it needs to be running at 24hz to use the amd HD3D features.
We got this TV recently and has exceeded our expectations. The packaging is perfect, the installation was a breeze and the picture is incredible. If you can think of anything then it would be a Windows Media Center (Extender) app, but you can always hope. In short, we are completely satisfied with this unit. We have no current interest in 3D so you do not try, but the capacity is another advantage for the future. The Wi-Fi setup was quick and easy with great reception.

I was looking for 3D TV for more than a year before I bought this TV. Plasma was my vote as the lack of deep black levels was something very obvious to me my last two TVs. I was interested in Panasonic GT25 series for everything but the cost of glasses and putting remain active (battery, wear, etc.) was prohibitive (this is a 2nd TV in the room).
The first time I heard of passive devices based glasses RPF was about a year ago. It was said that the best thing to do, but being a geek who has been burned before departure, I was skeptical that the 3D effect is very good. I'm sure there will be sacrifices in terms of 2D image quality, but I was really surprised at the quality of the images (2D and 3D) on this TV. The device can not be beat in terms of image quality and features at this low price (similarly capable LG televisions (although with 240 Hz and a couple of bells and whistles) is more than double).
I have had an HDTV (this being my 3rd) for the past 5 years and this TV has the best image quality and features and costs the least.
PROS:
- Even though this is an LCD panel the blacks levels are actually pretty good.
- PS3 and XBOX360 on HDMI look fantastic and there are several modes available to tweak color temp and/or brightness hue contrast levels.
- 3D effect looks amazing with both games and movies. I have had the TV for only a day so I have not had a chance to watch a full length 3D movie yet. 3D games I tried include wipeout HD which looks amazing. I had tried this game previously on a 3D Sony TV before and this one looks just as good while costing one 3rd.
- Lots of options are available for different settings e.g. Zoom has 4 settings (normal, wide, zoom, panoramic)
- Internet apps are available for flickr, facebook, NEtflix, VUDU, Amazon video on demand, Blockbuster and lots of news station. Not needing to power up my PS3 (for netflix) or my PC (for amazon video on demand) mean power savings :).
- Qwerty keyboard on the remote makes using these internet apps a breeze.
- The TV has wifi n and ethernet both which makes it very flexible. It has 3 HDMI ports and 1 component and 1 VGA port.
- It has capability to play songs and display pictures a usb disk (has 2-3 usb ports, I tried connecting my western digital passport and it worked great)but no movies. Pictures app has a lot of different transitions that make the slideshow and normal photo viewing great.
- The passive glasses are much lighter and more comfortable than active shutter glasses I had tried before. I wear glasses so I have to wear these on top of my existing ones and they have been much easier to handle than other glasses. I believe one can get clip-on type attachments (generic variety not from Vizio) for prescription glasses as well.
CONS:
- None that I can think of. The TV has surpassed my expectations for its price. To nitpick it is not 240HZ, or LED backlit, does not support PIP or POP. There are less options available compared to TVs that cost more than twice as much.
- After a couple of weeks of use I can definitely say that the TV is a little slow to start compared to my older HDTV, granted this one has internet apps (implying an embedded processor with an OS that needs to boot) but it is a noticeable difference. Since, this feature was not something I could test with other floor models, this could just be the norm for internet enabled TVs.
More than a 3D TV!
Earlier I gave this TV a negative review for 2 reasons:
1. 3D would not work with my Playstation 3 and Killzone 3.
2. Games had noticeable lag during gameplay.
After a few touch-ups around, I solved both problems. The problem I have with this is that because 3D TV is relatively new, that requires HDMI 1.4 cables to enable 3D content to work. So if you plan to use it with an older HDMI cable, think twice. Online forum can say otherwise, but it will take someone who has experienced the frustration of a serious problem, you need HDMI 1.4 CABLE for 3D.
The problem with the game is delayed because the default settings on the TV. You have to go to settings and enable "game mode". Until you change this setting on the TV and games are practically unplayable CoD other fast pace action due to input offset.
After these problems are resolved, then it's smooth sailing for gamers and movie lovers alike. This is a great value for a TV with these features and is really running. My only complaint is that the other players are very poor. It only a problem if you do not have a speaker system. From now on this TV is not available on Amazon, so I suggest anyone who wants to buy to go to their nearest Wal-Mart and pick it up. You can not go wrong with a deal so good!

Purchased this TV after learning that the World Cup will be broadcast in 3D. A switch to DirecTV to watch, but that's another story. This is a large LCD screen, even if they have a 3D content to watch it again. excellent contrast, nice features, and looks good. If you want 3D will not be disappointed. All my friends are impressed by the fact that 3D does not seem "cheezy", as one might expect the film. And several times as HD 2. You can get a crystal clear incredible depth perception.
I recommend this TV for entry into 3D. But I would say if you have the money, get the biggest 3DTV you can realistically afford. With 3D, the bigger the screen size the better.
Very happy whit this 3D TV
Finally bought this TV after returning a pn50c8000. It 's really nice and big black pop when sits in the sweet spot. I have a SQ01 no dead pixels. A flashlight with a much smaller angle, with no problems. Excellent uniformity. Apps are a mixed bag. Some are difficult to configure to trawl the forum. Real 3D on Blu-Ray is awesome. direct version is ghosting evident, and not as fun. The backlight on this set is very bright. I set mine to 6. As for the game, I found the delay of a nuisance. game mode allows. And I'm not a hardcore competitive game.
I bought this set not only for 3D, but for its virtues. Firstly an LCD screen which means you do not have to worry about image retention or embarrassed by dithering artifacts. 3D is better on plasma, but not my main criterion for selection as a whole. According to his card will not turn you know, at least in Samsung models for the poor viewing angle and lack of uniformity. Samsung was third with 10 levels of gray pt and CMS. Finally, I chose this series and I hope that even if there is a panel lottery for this series which affects an executive committee and is the top model CCFL. The 750 has a unique number that is part of a panel of substitution, while all models below the multiple part numbers for replacement panels.
Incredible 3D TV!
We finally decided to replace our 12 years in 26 tube television, and what a difference! It could be argued that nothing should be an improvement over what we had (and there is some truth in this), but we are so happy with our final decision to buy this TV. After much research and comparison of prices and the uncertainty and fear of buyer's remorse, we could not be happier with our purchase.
3D-Features are beautiful, but we also hit, none of this. In the end .... Image quality is what makes this TV so impressive. Others may take part in a number of other "extra" features (3D, network, etc.), but a television must be in the final analysis on image quality? This is really where this TV excels. Also, we have a better experience with Amazon. Surely the best possible price and delivery process was flawless.
I bought this TV because my wallspace was limited to 42-Inch.I wanted a best quality HDTV with 3D capabilities, and the opinions stated that plasma was the best performance of 3D LCD screen. It is the only 42-inch HDTV market in 3D, so I had to go with this model.
Buy at Amazon was easy. I had two glass and a Blu-ray and new rechargeable Avatar Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 3D Ultimate Starter Kit (Image 3D Glasses + 2 Pack). The shipping agent contacted me the next day to discuss the delivery. Ultimately my TV arrived a day later than expected, but the agent has informed me of shipping me the first time and was not a big deal to me.
TV is great. Set the picture in THX mode offers excellent image quality out of the box with good color and very rich, deep blacks. Serious tech-heads will want to change again, but for the casual user will not be necessary. 3D mode was very easy to use ... I thought it would be complicated to configure, but outside of the load of glasses and turned on, it was more of a problem than watching a standard DVD.
The 3D mode is very convincing. Instead of being artificial and gimmicky, it really draws you into the movie by adding an additional element of realism. Sitting 10 feet away it was very lifelike and uncanny. I noticed few artifacts, although there was some issue with crosstalk in certain scenes but it wasn't seriously distracting. Crosstalk was also not consistent to any one feature (bright objects, objects in the background, etc.), making me think how the 3D effect is implemented is a factor into whether or not there is crosstalk. Hopefully film-makers will figure this out over time to help eliminate crosstalk completely.
Standing as far away from the television as I could, in part, my scales at 20' lenses lose synchronization with the television and 3D mode. It seems that extreme ... although even at that distance is still realistic 3D effect, before losing the synchronization ...
Ordering from Amazon was a good experience. The TV came with a 14 day price guarantee and free shipping. My shipping agent contacted me the day after my order to schedule delivery. The day before the delivery date they contacted me again to say the TV was late and rescheduled to the next day. This was not a big deal for me.
Two weeks after I bought, the price has dropped on the Amazon site. I had to transfer me to a "distress" special units, but once I understood and verified the new price, with a difference for me, no other problem than the guaranteed price of 14 days. I highly recommend this 3D TV for anyone wanting a smaller unit in 3D. This is the only 42" 3D TV, I know, and do well in 2D and 3D.

The technology in which the left-eye and right-eye 3D images are sent to the viewer is key to the 3D image quality. For this, Full HD 3D uses something called Frame Sequential technology. First, the plasma display panel, which has a number of inherent advantages for moving picture resolution, was further advanced to allow images for each of the left and right eyes to be alternately reproduced at the rate of 60 frames per second (fps), making a total fps for both eyes. I had been researching flat-screen TV for about 3 years. I've always said that once the 42-inch models fell below $1,000 would buy a Well, I continued to shuffle $700. Also have a lot of money and of course I need/want to invest in a new stand, component, HDMI, etc.
I made my decision more than a year that I would get a Panasonic plasma. At Christmas time are a PS3 and a $400 Best Buy gift card. It was the PS3 on a CRT monitor that finally motivated me. BestBuy has the S2 model on their site for $650 that was $100 less than Amazon had 6 months earlier. But when I put in my basket and went to order the site actually says "discontinued operations". Why in the world would still be present on their site? Ridiculous!
I started looking into LCD models that were cheaper, but the selection in BestBuy 42-Inch range has been surprisingly limited. In the end I took it out and saw this model on Amazon for $750(currently). Considering that he had the additional features S2 of the old and new technologies at about the same price as the choice was a breeze. The picture quality of Panasonic plasma is superior to the other I looked in the showroom.
I bought this television for picture quality and the USB port and PC input. I do not care about 3D- it's just a bonus. If or when they are ready to spend $250 for a pair of glasses because my TV is ready too. I was expecting to make changes to improve the image quality, but this model has the mode "THX" which should display the image as directors of their intention to be seen. To my surprise the THX mode is very similar at all levels - if I watch the news, sports, games, PS3, DVD or BluRay. Of course, I first played around with the terms and parameters, but I finally decided THX and have no need to switch modes or change the default settings. It 's really perfect as is I expected a lot ... Better than I expected.
Very happy with this HDTV in 3D
I got the Viera TC-P42GT25 for about a week and so far I'm satisfied. This TV was very easy to configure. Placing on the stand was easy. footprint of the stand is small, so I could easily find an entry point.
The out of the box picture settings was not so great. It seemed dark and gray. Fortunately, Panasonic has included a wide range of items to change to get the image to appear exactly as you want to search. Panasonic also includes a definition of each image adjustment, so that non-experts who know what all the settings. I was able to customize the image so it looks a bit like me. For people who do not like tweaking a lot, there are several presets as THX, Vivid, and games. However, I was not happy with any of the preset.
You can optimize the image for each component. For my Wii, I increased the contrast and makes the picture very dynamic. For my PS3, I made the image brighter, but it reduced the contrast. TV saves the settings of each component, so you do not have to change settings each time when you switch to another component.
I was not really sure how this 3D HDTV would be able to handle gaming devices, but I'm pretty happy so far. Wii games look great, even if the Wii is only capable of doing or 480i or 480p. I have a cable that allows me to get 480p and the Wii games look bright and colorful without boredom or the appearance of stretch. Sure, the games look great even on PS3, but the PS3 is designed to support up to 1080p.
I have not tried to watch a Blu-ray on this HDTV yet, but pretty standard DVD. I'm not a big fan of the movie, but for me it's the TV and do a fantastic job of the PS3 game regular DVD. I have Comcast and HD programming is superb on this 3D TV. Again, out of the box settings are disappointing, but after adjustments, the image is superb.
I have not tried the 3D mode yet, because I don't have 3D glasses. I might spring for glasses in the future. I bought this 3D TV mainly because of good reviews on its 2D image. In addition, it will be nice to have a chance to see films in 3D after if they wish. Considering the cost of the plasma HDTV the same non-3D, I felt that I could be wrong.
This is my third Panasonic HDTV and I am very satisfied. I have a plasma for 5 years, Panasonic and Panasonic LCD 3 years that are still strong. I hope I have better luck than the Viera TC-P42GT25. I recommend this 3D HDTV to anyone looking for a plasma TV at a reasonable price. It is amazing once you have optimized the parameters.
